Janet Wu
7NEWS General Assignment Reporter/Fill-in Anchor
Janet Wu is a 7News general assignment reporter and substitute anchor. She first joined 7NEWS in 1996 as a general assignment reporter.
Before 7NEWS, Janet was a weekday morning anchor and reporter for KIRO-TV in Seattle. Prior to that, she spent three years as the weekend anchor and reporter at KGMB-TV in Honolulu. She has also worked here in New England for WFSB-TV in Hartford, Conn.
A published writer, she has lectured at Boston University, Brandeis, Bentley, and Emerson College. Janet is also multilingual, speaking both Chinese and Spanish.
Janet works with a number of local organizations, including the South Cove Community Health Center as well the American Heart Association, in memory of her father who was a noted heart surgeon. She is on the fundraising committee of the R.O.S.E Fund, which helps victims of domestic violence. She is also a member of the Friends of Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Janet received a bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy from Yale University, and also earned a masters degree at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and International Affairs.
Raised in Miami, Fl., she currently resides in the Boston area.
