Rivers named Coach of the Month

BOSTON -- Celtics coach Doc Rivers has been named the NBA Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for March.

He guided Boston to a league-best 13-3 last month, winning 13 games against teams that would currently be in the playoffs.

The Celtics led the league in fewest points allowed in March, giving up an average of 88.6 points in 16 games. The Green also led the league in average margin of victory at 12.6 points.

This is the second time Rivers has been named Coach of the Month. He also picked up the honor last November.
