Ramirez out of lineup against Yankees
BOSTON -- Boston Red Sox left fielder Manny Ramirez, nursing a sore right knee, has been scratched from the team's starting lineup for Friday's game against the New York Yankees.
Ramirez missed Wednesday's game in Seattle, but manager Terry Francona had said earlier that he hoped the slugger would be able to return for the start of the Yankees series at Fenway Park.
Francona said it was the same knee that had been bothering him for awhile.
Ramirez was not immediately available for comment, but was seen in the clubhouse with a wrap around his right knee.
Kevin Youkilis will hit in the cleanup position for Boston behind the returning David Ortiz. Jacoby Ellsbury will start in left field and hit leadoff and Coco Crisp will start in center field and bat ninth.
