Kindergartner arrested on felony charges
We all know kids can act up in school. The question is how to handle it.
One kindergarten class in Florida decided their best option was to call the police and put a young child behind bars.
Now, Desre'e's Watson is playing in her yard. Earlier this week, the six-year-old was in jail.
Watson's mom, Lateshia Wilson, says she couldn't believe it when she got the call. Her daughter had been arrested on felony charges and was booked.
According to police, the Avon Elementary School kindergartner became violent. They say she threw chairs, struck a teacher, and began crying and wailing uncontrollably.
Lateshia says she's never seen that kind of behavior and believes something brought it on.
The six-year-old faces three charges: disruption of a school function, battery on school employees, and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence.
Desre'e's parents are considering legal action and are looking to the NAACP for help.
