New bill may provide tax break for pet owners
A new bill is making its way to Capitol Hill. A Michigan congressman is proposing the "HAPPY Act." It stands for "Humanity and Pets Partnered through the Years."
The HAPPY Act would allow pet owners to deduct up to $3500 dollars in expenses!
The proposal is getting mixed reviews.
Pet owners would not be able to include the cost to buy or adopt the pet, but everything else is fair game.
The ASPCA says it costs close to $700 a year to take care of a cat, while dogs run about $200 more than that!
