Mayor calls for boycott of movie that sparked Boston bomb scare
BOSTON -- It's the mayor versus the movies.
Boston's Mayor Menino is asking fans to boycott the new "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" flick.
The cartoon sparked a guerilla marketing campaign back in January, causing a citywide bomb scare.
Now, the animated feature film will be shown in two local movie theaters. It opens Friday.
At the same time, Mayor Menino wants to see promotional posters for the movie, "Fractured," taken down.
The mayor's office says the slogan "I Shot My Wife" printed at the top of the posters sends a bad message as the city struggles to come to grips with a series of deadly shootings in recent weeks.
The posters were originally supposed to stay up through April 23.
