Serial bank robber captured by police, still searching for an accomplice
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Police arrested a woman after she allegedly robbed a bank in Cambridge. Police believe that she was not working alone and that this was not their first robbery.
According to police, the female suspect robbed the Cambridge Savings Bank on Cambridge Street around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
"Standard M.O., walked into the bank, you know produced a note. An undetermined amount of cash was given to the suspect. She then left on foot. The teller activated the emergency system that they have, and a description was given out based on the information we had at the scene," Frank Pasquarello, Cambridge Police Department PIO, said.
After fleeing on foot, police apprehended her in Somerville. Police say good team work led to the suspect's arrest.
"…Two of our alert detectives patrolling the area away from the bank went into the area of Somerville/Cambridge line on Prospect Street and observed a female carrying a bag fitting one of the descriptions we were interested in," Pasquarello said.
She is facing one count of armed robbery.
Police say that a second suspect is on still on the run.
According to police, the two women may be responsible for two other armed robberies which occurred last week at a Bank of America and a Citizens Bank in Cambridge. In both cases, witnesses say that a woman in her 20s passed a bank teller a note and made off with cash.
Anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the second suspect is encouraged to contact Cambridge Police at 617-349-3372.
