Funeral home director accused of forging death certificate

Funeral home director accused of forging death certificate

ARLINGTON, Mass. -- A funeral home director is accused of forging a death certificate for a woman who is still alive to gain access to her money.

The director of the Berglund, Williams, O'Brian funeral home in Arlington has had his license suspended by the town Board of Health.

The funeral home has been closed since December 10, when director George F. Williams had his license suspended for allegedly forging a death certificate for an 85-year-old woman who is still alive.

The Board of Health said Williams forged that death certificate to gain access to funds from a trust set up to pay for that woman's funeral, citing the cause of death as congestive heart failure and failure to thrive.

Williams' lawyer said his client does not dispute the claims made against him, and will likely be looking for another form of work.
