CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- A police officer said a man tried to run him over with his GMC Yukon in Billerica early Thursday morning.
The driver then sped off, heading north on Route 3.
Billerica, Chelmsford and State Police followed the man until two cruisers slammed into the SUV.
The driver was arrested when the chase ended in Chelmsford. The passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody, but not arrested.
An officer was placed on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital.
There was no word on the officer's condition.
