Woman set on fire in bakery explosion

NORWOOD, Mass. -- A 23-year-old woman was set on fire and burned after a gas stove exploded at a bakery Tuesday.

The explosion happened just after 11 a.m. at Brothers Bakery Inc. at 1132 Washington Street in Norwood.

Police said that there was one employee in the building at the time.

The woman was trying to light the stove's pilot when the explosion occurred. She ran out of the building screaming and on fire.

The windows of the building were blown out into the street.

The woman was airlifted to Brigham & Women's Hospital with severe burns to her head, hands and the back of her torso.
