1 dead, 1 injured, 1 arrested in Manchester, NH
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Police have charged a Weare, N.H., man with murder in the death of a Manchester woman early Saturday.
Police say 35-year-old Todd Peters was arrested Saturday on a second degree murder charge in the death of 35-year-old Edith Riley.
Riley's boyfriend, 29-year-old Timothy King, who lived with Riley, was seriously injured.
The murder occured around 4 a.m. in the pair's apartment at 168 Valley Street.
Matthew Riley, the victim's son, said his 12-year-old sister was in the apartment at the time of the murder and witnessed their mother being beaten to death with a baseball bat. He said his sister is traumatized with what she saw, upset that she couldn't save her mother.
Associate Attorney General Ann Rice said another tenant called police to the building early Saturday.
King was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital and is in critical condition.
Police are investigating.
