Harwich officer shoots suspect
HARWICH, Mass. -- Harwich police say one of their officers shot and wounded a man because he felt he had to defend himself.
Lt. Thomas Gagnon says the officer fired on 29-year-old Marcus Miranda Jr. on Monday night after the suspect made "threatening" statements and approached the officer aggressively while appearing to have a weapon.
The officer's name was not released.
Harwich and Dennis police had been searching for a suspect after a domestic dispute in Harwich.
Miranda was taken to Cape Cod Hospital. A hospital spokesman says he was in stable condition on Monday night and being evaluated.
The district attorney says the incident is under investigation.
