MBTA unveils new bike parking cages at Alewife
BOSTON -- The MBTA opened two new bicycle parking cages at Alewife Station Thursday.
The cages provide up to 300 additional bike parking space in a safe, secure, and protected environment, said the MBTA.
The two bike parking cages are located next to the parking garage at the station.
They are cages are covered and enclosed with safety fencing. Security cameras and controlled access doors will greatly enhance bicycle safety and security, said the MBTA.
There is no charge to use cages, but users must obtain a Bike Charlie Card.
MBTA still urges users to lock their bikes.
