SUV hits Lawrence front porch nearly missing family

LAWRENCE, Mass. -- One local family is considering themselves lucky after a SUV crashed into the front porch of their home.

The Jeep Liberty barreled backwards into the family's front porch at 22-24 Irene Street Wednesday night, where twelve people were sitting nearby.

Margarita Burgos, 37, who lives on the same street, was trying to back out of her driveway Wednesday when the accident happened.

"She didn't stop, she just kept her foot on the gas," said Christina Perez, a witness. "It went straight up onto the porch."

The Jeep wound up scaling the stone wall and landing about 7 feet about the sidewalk on the family's front porch.

The reason that they are counting their blessings is because the family usually sits on the front porch together, right around the time of the crash.
