Green Line power lines struck by lightning, T shut down
BOSTON -- Power lines running above a Green Line train in Allston were struck by lightning during the severe thunderstorms that swept Boston Sunday afternoon.
Service of the B line was suspended between Kenmore Sq. and Washington St. because of a downed wire at Packards Corner.
Witnesses say the lightning hit the power line that runs above the T and caused sparks.
MBTA shuttle buses provided alternate transportation during the shut down. The B line was back in operation several hours later.
