Off-duty police officer crashes into house
HYDE PARK, Mass. -- An off-duty police officer crashed his vehicle into the front steps of a triple decker home Sunday.
The officer was trying to escape another police officer that approached him in a cruiser.
He veered off the road and knocked down a tree on a nearby front lawn before crashing his gray Cadillac into the front steps of the home.
He got out of the car and ran across the street into a wooded area where officers stopped him with the help of pepper spray.
No one was injured from the accident.
The officer was deemed to be emotionally distraught and suicidal and has been taken to the hospital.
The department stated they "will get him the help he needs."
