Teen mother says girls seemed "curious" about her pregnancy
GLOUCESTER, Mass. -- A friend of the Massachusetts teens who may have made a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together says they seemed "curious" about her own pregnancy.
Christen Callahan had her baby when she was 15. The former Gloucester (GLAH'-stur) High School student tells NBC's "Today" show that some of the teens would ask her questions.
But she says she has no firsthand knowledge of any pact among Gloucester students to have babies.
Mayor Carolyn Kirk says she is skeptical of a widespread pregnancy pact. Student Council member Emily Spreer says she has not heard talk of such a pact.
The principal tells Time magazine that some of the girls reacted to the news they were pregnant with high fives and plans for baby showers.
Normally, there are about four pregnancies a year at the school. This year there are 17.
