Boston Police investigate attempted abduction

BOSTON -- Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a 12-year-old boy in Dorchester Monday morning.

The boy told police he was walking to school around 8:15 a.m., near 663 Gallivan Boulevard in Dorchester, when an unknown male approached him, grabbed his arm and attempted to pull him into a vacant lot. The victim was able to break free from the suspect.

He fled through several yards and streets in an attempt to lose the suspect who was chasing him. He safely made his way to St. Brendan's School and immediately notified the principal of the incident.

Officers canvassed the area, but could not locate the suspect.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, mid 40s to 50s, 200 pounds and about 5'10". He was wearing a black leather jacket with red sleeves, blue jeans, a black baseball cap and sunglasses.

Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at 617-343-4335.
