Tanker spills fuel oil after Cape Cod accident
HARWICH, Mass. -- Crews worked through the night on Cape Cod to contain a fuel oil spill after a tanker overturned in Harwich.
Officials said the tanker collided with a pickup at about 3 p.m. Wednesday at Great Western Road and Lothrop Street. The driver of the pick-up had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital.
An undetermined amount of the tanker's 4,000 gallons of home heating oil spilled after the accident and crews were working to prevent any environmental damage.
Great Western Road remained closed overnight as was as a portion of a nearby bike path known as the Cape Cod Rail Trail.
