N.H. pedestrians struck by car, one seriously injured

NASHUA, N.H. -- Police say a driver struck two pedestrians, critically injuring one, after arguing with them in the Nashua City Hall parking lot Friday. The driver was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Police allege that Ivonne Hernandez, 43, of Nashua, drove through the parking lot after arguing with the pedestrians about 2 a.m.

Police say the critically injured pedestrian was taken to the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. The other pedestrian suffered minor injuries. Family members identified him as Matthew Beaudoin.

Family and friends of the pedestrians said they had just left a bar in the area.

"They were walking home, and a person who was in their car got out and ran him over," said Kim Barchard, a friend of Beaudoin's.

"It was awful," Barchard said. "The scene -- there was blood everywhere. It was terrible."

Hernandez also was charged with two counts of reckless conduct. She's been scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
