Police simulate school shooting in Stoughton
STOUGHTON, Mass. -- Police staged a mock school shooting at Stoughton High School on Tuesday. The simulation was staged exactly like the Columbine massacre.
Stoughton police used new equipment, including bullets made of soap and antifreeze during the reenactment. They are used to hurt people, but not kill them.
The exercise was used to train and prepare police, students and staff for the worst case scenario should a school shooting actually occur.
"It's about as real as it can get," said Officer Robert Hardy of the Stoughton Police Department.
Officials hope the simulation will ensure safety at local schools.
