High school student killed in skiing accident
FALL RIVER, Mass. -- A high school senior died after an accident on the slopes.
Andrew Dumont, 17, was on a skiing vacation with his family at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton when he lost control and collided with a tree.
"It was just one of those things, it was a little icy and he hit a patch of ice at the wrong time and he lost his balance and went off into the edge of the woods and hit a tree," Gerry Dumont, father, said.
Dumont was a senior at Diman Regional Vocational-Tech in Fall River. He was on the Hockey team and studying metal fabrication and welding.
In a statement the school said, "The Diman community… mourns his loss and, through its faculty, staff and students, reaches out to the Dumont family… to offer its sincere condolences."
The family says that they plan to donate Andrew's organs.
