JUST ONE STATION: Victim hacked with machete in Government Center
BOSTON -- Police have taken two men into custody following a stabbing near the Government Center MBTA station.
According to police, a 20-year-old man was hacked by a machete around 4:30 p.m. Thursday on City Hall Plaza. He was taken to the hospital after his left arm was severely injured during the attack with the 3-foot-long knife.
The suspects reportedly ran through City Hall Plaza toward Downtown Crossing, where police later found them. The two men were placed under arrest.
Juan Chavez, 18, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The other suspect is a 15-year-old juvenile and will be charged with disturbing the peace.
The victim is expected to be OK.
Police believe that the incident is possibly gang related.
