Police seeking leads in Hingham home invasions
HINGHAM, Mass. -- Police are investigating a trio of home invasions in Hingham. One of the victims found an intruder standing in her bedroom doorway.
All three incidents happened within a half-mile of each other; near Gardner and Main Streets in Hingham.
"The thing we're seeing with all these breaks is the homes are not locked," said Lt. Michael Peraino of the Hingham Police Dept.
In one of the cases, the suspect entered a home where someone was sleeping. The suspect fled once the woman woke up.
"They actually watched him go by the bedroom doorway, go down the stairs and exit through the basement door," said Peraino.
Police said these crimes are likely related to a drug problem that they said is plaguing the South Shore.
Officials urge residents to lock their doors.
