BOSTON -- A Lynn man shot by police after allegedly stabbing his mother to death was ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty at his hospital bed arraignment.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Cory Roche was charged Tuesday with murder and armed assault with intent to murder in connection with the death of 42-year-old Lisa Bryson Roche.
Police responded to Lisa Bryson Roche's Revere home on Monday after getting a 911 call from inside the house. Prosecutors say an officer shot the son once in self defense when he refused to drop a knife he was holding.
Lisa Roche was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Cory Roche was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital and is expected to survive.
His lawyer, Robert Wheeler, says it's early in the legal process and an investigation will reveal the truth of the incident.
