Boy, 10, escapes attempted abduction in Belmont
BELMONT, Mass. -- A 10-year-old boy claimed a man tried to abduct him Thursday afternoon, said police.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. near the Mary Lee Burbank School at 266 School Street in Belmont.
Police said the student was walking home alone when he said the man grabbed him and dragged him down the road.
The child was kicking and screaming, trying to free himself from the suspect.
Police said the student was able to get away, and make it home safely.
The suspect is described as a white male, around 35-years-old, wearing a black knee-length trench coat and jeans.
Officials used a reverse 911 system to alert people in the immediate area of the incident.
Police said they plan to release a sketch of the suspect on Friday. Anyone with information is asked to contact Belmont Police.
