Photos of gymnastics coach surfaces on the Internet
STOW, Mass. -- More bad news for a gymnastics coach, who is accused assaulting two teenage students more than a decade ago, has surfaced on the Internet.
New photos of Steven Infante, 51, and his students have surfaced online. In one of the photographs, Infante is seen holding a girl's head as she kneeled in front of him. A second picture shows another girl being handcuffed by another coach who is accused of working with Infante.
The pictures were taken at a gymnastics camp in Springfield in 2006.
The details of the pictures have been confirmed by court papers filed in Connecticut.
"Any information that we can obtain which is of a more recent vintage, which helps us bolster these allegations that are being made about past conduct and then leads us to the possibility of present conduct is information that is helpful to us," Gerry Leone, Middlesex District Attorney, said,
According to the District Attorney, it appears that there was a pattern of conduct that Infante allegedly used to groom his students to be easily manipulated by his advances. Infante reportedly used alcohol, flirtation and excessive touching.
Court papers regarding the incident read, "…with Infante's participation, and at the urging of other coaches, victim 1 applied whipped cream to Infante's body with her hands, including on his nipples and down his shorts…"
Infante was indicted earlier this month on one count of rape, one count of rape of a child and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14. The charges stem back to when he was coaching in the 1990s.
Another gymnastics coach, Stephen DiTullio, 53, of Littleton, was also indicted on a charge of perjury in connection with his grand jury testimony during the investigation. Prosecutors said he lied when he denied any knowledge of alcohol being provided to the teenage gymnasts.
