Class canceled after students drink beer in class
BOSTON -- Boston University officials are looking into whether students were allowed to drink in one of their classes.
Classes were cancelled for the Advertising Design and Copy course where juniors and seniors were required to pitch beer as part of the curriculum.
"We had to basically create a beer from scratch, created a marketing proposition, market it correctly and create all the advertising," said William Loo, a student who took the class last year.
But all it's done now is create controversy, after two professors allegedly told their students they could bring the brew to class to demonstrate how they would use it in an ad campaign.
"We were drinking like little teaspoon size sample of beer," said Loo.
Apparently, other students brought enough for normal size drinks, raising issues about underage drinking and a violation of school rules.
"Our student life book says that you can't drink in class," said Sam Stratton, a student.
The professors involved said absolutely no underage drinking happened in their classroom.
Boston University officials confirmed that the incident is under investigation.
