BOSTON -- Police are searching for a man who brandished a bogus badge during a robbery.
According to police, the suspect allegedly robbed two people Friday afternoon. The suspect identified himself as an officer. He reportedly told one of the victims that they had a warrant for their arrest, and then asked for their wallet.
On Saturday night, the suspect approached a group who were allegedly drinking in a park. The man then displayed his badge and demanded their wallets.
"Once he got their wallets he proceeded to take their cash out of their wallets," Officer James Kenneally, Boston Police Department, said. "In addition to that, he asked one of the victims to board a MBTA train with him, and then proceeded to take a ride for a couple of stops and then once he got off the train he took off."
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s. He has a chin-strap style beard and a wound on his right arm.
Police say that if anyone suspects that they are dealing with someone who is pretending to be an officer to ask questions. Police suggest asking for the officer's name, asking to speak with a supervisor or asking for a police cruiser to drive by.
