QUINCY, Mass. -- Police say an armed man jumped over a supermarket service counter and tried to steal the cash.
Gerard Rampino, 49, walked into the Super Stop & Shop on 495 Southern Artery in Quincy.
According to officials, Rampino jumped over the service desk and demanded cash. He had an orange flare gun in one of his hands, and attempted to put on a Halloween mask with the other hand.
The employee behind the counter got on the store's intercom and called security.
When security arrived, he attempted to flee. Security grabbed him and held him until police arrived, officials said.
Rampino has been ordered held and the official arraignment will be Nov. 21.
