Charge dismissed in Needham arrest that came amid manhunt
DEDHAM, Mass. -- A disorderly conduct charge has been dismissed against the head of a Geneva-based human rights group who was arrested during a manhunt in what turned out to be an unrelated killing.
Hillel Neuer was arrested in Needham on Friday after a report he'd been acting suspiciously. Police had simultaneously been looking for a suspect in a beating death earlier that day.
A clerk magistrate in Dedham District Court dismissed the charge against Neuer after finding there was no probable cause.
A spokesman for the American Jewish Committee says Neuer is executive director of Geneva-based U.N. Watch and was in Boston to deliver a speech.
