BELCHERTOWN, Mass. -- Governor Patrick and Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray will be among those attending the funeral today of a Belchertown man killed while on duty in Iraq earlier this month.
The Department of Defense says 22-year-old Private First Class Kenneth Iwasinski died from injuries he suffered after an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.
Services take place at Belchertown High School.
Iwasinski was assigned to the Second Infantry Division based in Fort Carson, Colorado.
His father, Dominick Iwasinski, previously said his son was proud of what he was doing in Iraq, had a big heart, and was committed to the Army.
