Child survives initial fall from apartment window

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- An 18-month-old child fell from a window in Framingham.
The baby girl fell from a fourth-story window.
"I saw... this little being just whip by my window," Pat Johnson, witness, said. "I wasn't very sure it was a being, and then I looked out the window and then called 911, and they said stay on the phone. I said no, I'm going out there with her or him..."
When Johnson went to the scene, she saw a group of maintenance workers.
"She was crying and she was breathing and she was screaming, which is as everybody knows is the first thing you really want to hear," Johnson said.
The child, who was med-flighted to UMass Memorial Hospital, suffered head and facial injuries.
A witness said that the child's mother was hysterical, saying "how could those screens break? We just moved here two weeks ago."
According to Nilish Punjabi a family friend, the child recieved CAT scans at the hospital and doctors say she will be fine.
"Everything is good...no major injuries," he said.
Police are investigating, but said they don't believe the girl's parents were negligent
Residents living in the complex are questioning the safety of their own windows.
The apartment management company says that they are looking into the problem and cooperating with police.
