Road sign in Dedham hijacked to display a crass invitation to lunch

DEDHAM, Mass. -- A dirty display is getting a lot of attention on a busy highway in Dedham, Mass.

Someone hacked into the sign and changed the words on an electronic sign meant to direct drivers. And, instead, it distracted drivers and disturbed people because the sign is next to a Toys R Us.

Officials from Mass. Highway first learned of the sign change earlier this afternoon. The officials then instructed crews to correct the message, which mentioned a part of a man's anatomy was for lunch.

Mass. Highway does not own the sign; SPS New England, a private contractor who is working on the highway, owns it.

The sign is a portable message board that construction crews use to alert drivers of traffic conditions.

It is unknown who the hackers are and how they hijacked the system.
