Former UNH prof sentenced in online sex solicitation case
NASHUA, N.H. -- A former University of New Hampshire professor will serve one year in jail and five years of probation for soliciting sex online.
David Watt, a former engineering professor, was sentenced Monday. Speaking to the court, Watt said he took responsibility for his behavior and admitted using a university computer to contact someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. Authorities say Watt had explicit chats with his online friend and arranged to meet in person.
When he showed up for the meeting, Watt was met by a Hollis police detective instead of a 14-year-old girl.
Watt was arrested in September 2006. He no longer works at the university.
