Man charged with videotaping up women's skirts
NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- A retired schoolteacher was arrested for allegedly videotaping up women's skirts at an air show last weekend, authorities said.
Philip Riviere, 61, of New Bedford, Mass., was charged with video voyeurism, a felony. He was arraigned and released on $5,000 bail with surety.
Authorities say Riviere attempted to surreptitiously film the underwear of women at the Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Air Show last weekend.
Two National Guard members reported seeing Riviere film the planes and then tilt the camera low as he followed different women, said Lt. David Neill of the Rhode Island State Police, which arrested Riviere and seized his camera and video.
Riviere, a retired sixth-grade teacher in New Bedford, told state police investigators that he had gotten the idea from Internet pornography sites but had never done anything like that before and felt embarrassed, Neill said.
The seized video showed the underwear of three women, he said.
Riviere's home phone number is not published.
