Mother indicted in death of infant found in garbage truck
WORCESTER, Mass. -- The mother of a newborn baby found in a garbage truck was released on $5,000 bail following her arraignment in Worcester Superior Court.
Allissa Pugh, 28, of Milford, entered a not guilty plea to charges of involuntary manslaughter and improper disposal of a body.
As a condition of her release, Pugh must remain under house arrest with an electronic monitoring device and refrain from alcohol.
Prosecutors allege that Pugh delivered a full-term boy in her home in January and placed the baby in a trash bag. The infant's body was found wrapped in a plastic bag by trash haulers.
A medical examiner said the baby died of injuries sustained around the time of birth.
