Pair left for dead after a hit and run on route 128

CANTON, Mass. -- A man and a woman say that they were left for dead after they were hit by a speeding car on route 128.
Jeffrey Cornielle, 28, and an 18-year old female victim were walking along the breakdown lane on the highway after their car ran out of gas when a speeding car hit the couple and drove off.
"I didn't hear it," Jeffrey Cornielle, victim, said. "I didn't see it. I didn't feel it. I just woke up, I woke up in a ditch."
Cornielle was thrown into a ditch on the side of the road, while his friend was left immobile alongside the guardrail as cars passed by.
"She was against the railing on the highway side," Cornielle said. "I'd seen probably two to three ribs protruding out... I tried to get up, and I couldn't, and I looked and I'd seen that my leg was like in a 'z' formation."
Five hours after the accident, a couple driving in a truck noticed the pair and called for help.
Cornielle and his friend were taken to Boston Medical Center where they are being treated for their injuries.
"My friend, she could be crippled, she can eventually die," Cornielle said.
Police are still looking for a suspect in this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Massachusetts State Police at 508-820-2250.
