BROCKTON, Mass. -- Police officers searched for weapons stashes at over a dozen locations in Brockton on Wednesday.

According to Mark St. Luis, principal at the B. B. Russell Alternative School, metal detectors help keep weapons from entering the school, however students stash the weapons in brush outside of the building.

"We saw kids jumping over the fence, St. Luis said. "And there's only one reason to get in there 'cause it doesn't lead to anywhere."

Local and federal agents used dogs to sniff out weapons at over a dozen different locations.

"We want to send a message out, not only to the bad guys but to the people in these neighborhoods that we are committed to reducing gun violence," Jim McNally from the ATF said.

Last Sunday, Marvin Constant, 14, an eighth grader at the B.B Russell School, was gunned down.

ATF agents were in Boston last month searching the streets for weapons. According to officials, they look at statistics of gun violence to determine where they go next.
