Water main break causes damage near Faneuil Hall

Water main break causes damage near Faneuil Hall

BOSTON -- A water main in Boston burst early on Wednesday. The gushing water caused damage to both cars and the street near Fanueil Hall.

There's a gaping hole left in the middle of Blackstone Street close to Haymarket Square.

A local car owner, Dave Lovett, came out of work to see that his car was covered in water.

"I came out of work, saw a bunch of water coming down the street and came around the corner and saw my car covered in water with water underneath it," he said.

A spokeswoman for the mayor's office says Blackstone Street between Hanover and North streets is closed now and will likely remain closed through morning rush hour.

Commuters are urged to seek alternate routes.
