Plymouth beach closed after military material stings walkers
PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- A Plymouth beach will be closed until Sunday after a hazardous materials scare.
Walkers on Ellisville Beach complained earlier today of a blisters and a burning sensation on their feet.
Fire officials say the cause was phosphorus residue from a flare used in Marine training exercises. Some of the material apparently washed up onto the sand after the flares were shot nearby.
Plymouth Fire Chief James Pierson says no one was injured enough to go to the hospital.
