Driver locates missing Abington statue

ABINGTON, Mass. -- A statue stolen from the Abington Library has been found.

Authorities say it may have been taken for the value of its copper.

The statue was ripped off its granite base about two weeks ago.

A resident spotted it in a wooded area as he was driving along Chestnut Street.

The $1,600 statue was donated in memory of Leona and Ed Fisher in 2005 by their daughter.

Officials say the statue could be back in front of the library soon.
