Police dog suspended after biting a police dispatcher

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -- A prominent member of the North Andover police force has been suspended -- for biting the dispatcher.

The department's police dog, Kyzer, attacked a dispatcher after bolting from his handler in a parking lot for no apparent reason.

The dog could be sent for retraining. Or nothing could happen to the dog, if it's found to have been acting according to it training.

Police dispatcher Nathan Kenney was treated at Lawrence General Hospital for a minor bite and was released. He's on injury leave because he has a sore arm.

Sergeant Chuck Gray describes the dog as "more social" than his previous canine partner.
