Patrick removes three Springfield board members
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Governor Deval Patrick is shaking up the Springfield Finance Control Board.
The Democrat is announcing that he will replace three members of the panel appointed by former Republican Governor Mitt Romney.
The ousted board members are Thomas Gloster, Michael Jacobson, and chairman Alan LeBovidge, who is also commissioner of the state Department of Revenue.
Mayor Charles Ryan says its the governor's prerogative to reshape the board as he pleases.
Romney and the Legislature created the finance board three years ago to shore up the city's fiscal problems.
Many in Springfield have credited the board with helping to revitalize the city.
