Ex-Boy Scout leader arrested in child porn sting

ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- A former Boy Scout leader from Norton pleads not guilty to child pornography charges.

John Ready was arrested at his home over the weekend following an online sting operation that was initiated last December by the Stafford County Sheriff's Department in Virginia.

Authorities say the 60-year-old Ready made contact with two detectives who posed as 13-year-old boys and allegedly sent child pornography images over the Internet.

He was ordered held without bail on fugitive from justice charges during an arraignment today in Attleboro District Court.

He faces prosecution in Massachusetts and Virginia.

State police also said he was involved as an operations coordinator for the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, but a spokesman for the agency says Ready was never employed by MEMA.

Ready is a father of five who is reportedly estranged from his wife.

A New Hampshire man, Gene Morrill, also faces charges in connection with the case.
