Degrading delivery has a neighborhood in shock

BROCKTON, Mass. -- For Bernice, it's a daily routine, head outside and pick up the paper, but she was not expecting what she found.
For Bernice, it's a daily routine. Head outside and pick up the paper, but she was not expecting this.
"I was walking and I saw the paper and I thought it was just a regular newspaper, and when I brought it in and started reading it, I noticed that it was something more," Bernice, Brockton resident, said.
What she found was this tabloid paper called The White Patriot Leader, which targets gays, blacks and Jewish people. Bernice wanted action."Just let the people be aware that something like this is going on and we don't want to tolerate it, were not gonna tolerate it," Bernice said.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, The White Patriot Leader was launched last year by former Klan leader Glen Miller of Springfield Missouri.
Bernice was not alone; The White Patriot Leader was delivered to driveways all over her Brockton neighborhood.
"Its unbelievable," Karen Raphaleson, Brockton resident, said. "I've lived in Brockton all my life, and I've never seen something like this come in the mail or come our doorstep being delivered."
Karen Raphaleson also upset because she's Jewish.
"That's hate mail for us, you know," Raphaleson said. "We feel like someone's targeting us."
According to the Anti-Defamation League, this paper has been popping up on people's driveways in Newtown, Needham and Westwood. And while no laws are being broken here, most neighbors had one spot in mind for this paper.
"It's going in the trash," Raphaleson said.
A white supremacist group made the publication available for download and distribution on the Internet.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, so far in New England no hate-crimes have been traced back to anyone associated with the paper.
