Teen suffering from cancer falls victim to thieves
MILTON, V.T. -- A young cancer patient being treated in Boston is the victim of a cruel crime.
Police say they knew he was very sick, and knew when they could make their move.
The thieves targeted the boy's home in Milton, VT while he was here in Boston getting treatment.
Katie Cota, 19, was angry and shocked when she arrived home from work Sunday and discovered thieves had broken into her family home.
They made off with an Xbox 360 and games worth at least $1,000.
They were a special Christmas gift for her brother Jeff.
He wasn't home on Sunday; Jeff was in Boston with his parents getting medical treatment in his battle for life.
Jeff has Osteosarcoma, a bone cancer in the leg. He had surgery on Monday.
Jeff Cota, 17, was a star basketball player.
The popular 6 foot 7 teen was diagnosed with bone cancer last fall.
His sister and the police are convinced the thieves knew Jeff had the popular video game system, knew he has cancer, and knew no one would be home on Sunday.
The investigating trooper says he has a couple of good leads and he is giving this crime special focus.
