Man accused of sexual assault inside courthouse
DERRY, N.H. -- A New Hampshire man is facing charges after being accused of sexually assaulting at least two women inside a courthouse.
Paul Benoit, 55, turned himself into authorities Tuesday. Benoit was working as a security officer at Derry District Court.
Police say he touched two women inappropriately inside a conference room during separate incidents in October. One of the women says that she was kissed during the assault and a third victim has come forward citing a similar attack.
None of the women were physically hurt in the confrontations but investigators say more charges could be filed against Benoit.
“They were approached by this man who was security for the court and he asked them to step into a conference room to speak to them,” Derry Police Capt. Vern Thomas said. “Each of them separately told us that he made inappropriate contact with them and sexual advances.”
Benoit was released from police custody on $5,000 bail. He’s set to be arraigned where he worked, in Derry District Court, in December.
