Police searching for man in attempted abduction in Brockton

BROCKTON, Mass. -- A student at West Middle School in Brockton reported an attempted abduction earlier this week.

According to the Brockton Enterprise, a 12-year-old girl said a man tried to pull her into a car on Pearl Street.

Police said the girl managed to get away and went to a neighbor for help.

The suspect is described as an African-American male with dreadlocks. He was wearing a black hooded t-shirt and jeans and was driving a black BMW sedan.

Letters and automated phone calls alerted parents of the incident.

School officials are reminding students to walk in group, report any suspicious activity, and never talk to strangers.

Officials released a statement regarding the incident:

"We are reminding students to always be aware of their surroundings, encouraging students to walk to and from school in groups, to stay to main roads, to never speak to or go with strangers, and to report any suspicious activities to a trusted adult immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
