Woman faces charges in motorcycle accident
OXFORD, Mass. -- A Charlton woman has been summoned to court to face charges connected to an accident in Oxford that left a motorcyclist from Connecticut dead.
State police said Wednesday that 51-year-old Joanne Burlingame is charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, failure to yield, and negligent driving. She will be called to Dudley District Court at a later date.
Police say Burlingame was leaving a parking lot on the eastbound side of Route 20 on Sept. 2 when her minivan collided with a motorcycle operated by 52-year-old Ronald Tarascio of Enfield, Conn.
Tarascio was taken by ambulance to Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge where he was later pronounced dead. His passenger, 52-year-old Debra DeRosa of East Windsor, Conn., was taken by ambulance to a hospital with serious injuries.
